Mayk Azzato is an Italian director and photo artist who resides in Frankfurt am Main in Germany. Over the last 30 years he has enjoyed a successful career in fine art and celebrity photography. His father, Agostino Azzoto was an internationally known photojournalist, so that at the age of 15 Mayk discovered a fascination of photography. Alongside his interest in photography Mayk also had another passion: football/soccer. Consequently, Mayk’s plan was not to become a professional photographer but instead his dream since childhood was to become a professional soccer player. Unfortunately, during a game, Mayk sustained a very serious knee injury from an opposing player that forced him to leave his dream of a career in professional football, that had just started, behind. When Mayk realized that he would never again be able to play soccer at a professional level he was shocked and frustrated. Luckily, he still had his passion for photography into which he focused all of his energy. His goal was to become an equally successful international photographer just as his father, Agostino, had been.
After just a short while, Azzato’s talent as a photographer, highlighting the perfect combination of Italian passion and creativity with German discipline and precision, attracted the attention of Art Buyer international agencies.
Today, Mayk is a sought-after photographer whose list of clients include the companies and brands of, Jacques Lemans, Kennel & Schmenger, Jaguar Land Rover, Audi, BMW, Daimler Benz, Lufthansa, ZDF, Sony Ericsson, Sony BMG, Timberland, Suzuki, Daniel Hechter, Procter & Gamble, Paul Mitchell, AIDA Cruises, Bentley, Nintendo, Nikon as well as other well-known international brands. Alongside his work for these companies, he has photographed advertising campaigns for Vanity Fair, Maxim, FHM, Arqueonautas , GQ, and Vogue. He has also photographed countless CD-covers for international musicians. To date he has worked with many international celebrities including Kevin Costner, SEAL, OUTKAST, 50 Cent, Bill Clinton, Kim Wilde, Heidi Klum, Ornella Muti as well as others.
Since his project entitled “Nobody is perfect,” has begun in which he photographs celebrities in front of a police bookings or “mug-shot” backdrop, the mass media has shown great interest in the artist.
Every year he schedules one or two openings for the exhibition, “Nobody is perfect” or for other projects which feature international celebrities, artists, musicians and politicians.
His exhibitions with up to 600 guests are always featured in the prime-time TV news as well as almost all Lifestyle magazines. Mayk’s popularity has continually grown and he himself has become a public figure.
His limited art calendars are auctioned off by sites like eBay for three to four figures.
He has become a brand ambassador for brands like Nikon Lenses, Vertu, Maurice Lacroix, and Hensel performing Light, in which he uses his fame to promote the individual brands and to bring these campaigns on to the scene. Sometimes he also partially creates these campaigns.
Mayk Azzato has also discovered a passion for movie making and has shot with many German and international actors. He has worked as a director and producer on movies like “The Arrival” with Kevin Costner and “The Key” with numerous other well-known actors. “The Key” won him the “Cannes Corporate Media & TV Award” and the “US International Film and Video Festival Award” and with “The Lounge” the World Housten Special Jury Award in 2018.
Since 2012, Mayk Azzato has also discovered his creative vein for modern pop-art style painting, using a mix of different materials.
